Gum Treatment

Gum treatment (periodontal treatment) controls infection in the gums and the bone that supports your teeth — from professional cleaning to regenerative treatment where bone has been lost. Cleaning and early gum treatment are often possible in a single visit.

At Oaks Dental Clinic

Treatment ranges from scaling and deep cleaning to periodontal treatment, depending on how far the condition has progressed. Digital X-rays show the bone level around each tooth.

Saving loose teeth: periodontal regeneration

When gum disease has destroyed bone around a tooth, regenerative treatment aims to rebuild the lost bone and periodontal tissue rather than extract the tooth. Techniques include guided tissue regeneration (GTR) with bone graft material and barrier membranes, and Emdogain, an enamel matrix protein applied to the root surface to encourage the periodontal ligament, cementum and bone to regenerate. The same techniques are used to rebuild bone before an implant. Treatment is carried out under local anaesthesia, and everyday activities usually resume within 1–2 weeks.

Cosmetic gum contouring

If your gums show too much when you smile, are uneven, or cover the teeth so that they look short, the gum line can be reshaped to bring the teeth and gums into proportion. Gums that look dark because of pigmentation can be lightened with a dental laser, often with little bleeding or swelling.

Visits and timing for visitors

Scaling is possible during a 1–2 day stay. More advanced gum treatment may need several visits, and residents of Korea are advised to return for regular maintenance. Your plan is confirmed after examination.

The number of visits and treatment duration depend on your diagnosis. A personalized treatment plan will be provided after examination.

Before you travel

Send your panoramic x-ray, ct scan, photos of your teeth, existing treatment plan or medical records by email or WhatsApp. The preliminary review is free, and we reply with whether treatment is likely to be possible, the expected number of visits, an estimated cost range and available dates. A preliminary review is not a final diagnosis.

Costs

Your cost depends on the number of teeth, complexity, materials and laboratory work, and is confirmed in a written estimate (Korean won, VAT included) before treatment begins. How costs are decided →

Aftercare and warranty

Gum treatment is not a warranty item; regular check-ups are the best protection for your gums. You leave with written aftercare instructions in English, and online consultation after you return home is always available. Aftercare and warranty →
